What To Do While Your Chemical Peel is Healing
August 14, 2023
Chemical peels are amazing. They improve skin tone and texture, addressing everything from acne scars to dullness to fine lines and wrinkles. But one of their few disadvantages is that they require some downtime while your skin literally peels off, revealing smoother, clearer skin underneath. Depending on what kind of peel you have, you may need to lay low at home and indoors for about a week, sometimes longer. But it’s also a useful opportunity to take some much-needed time for yourself! Here are some ways to pass the time while you’re at home waiting for your skin to heal.
Have a movie marathon
Every movie that your friends have told you about that are “on your list”? Every blockbuster you missed in theaters? Now’s the time to actually watch them. Go all-out with popcorn, licorice, and M&Ms and make a whole day out of it.
Reorganize your closet and declutter
While you’re stuck inside, you can edit your closet to reflect the way your style is now, and ditch the pieces that no longer light you up or fit quite right. It’s also a good time to declutter that one spot in your apartment that isn’t organized, like the table in your entryway or the drawer in your bathroom with a bunch of random travel products you never use.
Then go on an online shopping spree!
Now that you’ve decluttered your closet, that means it’s time to go shopping again! Treat yourself with a new pair of shoes or replace the worn-out basics that you just got rid of. While you’re at it, stock up on your skincare and beauty staples, plus anything new you’d like to try!
Have an at home spa day
For obvious reasons, this spa day doesn’t involve your face. But you can still have a pampering day for the rest of your body. You can give yourself a mani-pedi, take a bath with bath salts or softening oils, and deep-condition your hair. That way when you emerge post-peel people will think you’ve spent the week getting spoiled at Canyon Ranch.
Book your next getaway
Take this time to plan your next vacation. After all, when else are you going to have the time to do so much research on the prettiest hotels in Paris? Really lean in to creating the vacation that’s tailor made for you, whether it’s a girls’ weekend in Jackson Wyoming or a glamorous trip to the French Riviera.
Awaken your inner artist
You don’t have to be Picasso to have fun painting or drawing. If it’s been a while since you’ve had any time for a creative hobby, or you’d just like to do a little paint-by-numbers, now’s the time to get out your paint brushes or colored pencils.
Get visualizing
Having a vision board can be super motivating. If you’ve never made one, the process is super fun. You’ll need some magazines (or a way to print your Pinterest pictures), scissors, glue, and a poster board. Cut out the images that speak to you or represent a goal you have for your life. Get creative in how you arrange them on your poster board and just have fun with it!
Order takeout
Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to eat like it. Try getting DoorDash from restaurants you haven’t tried yet, or get delivery from your favorite places.
