Upkeep's Guide To Treatments For Arms

You don't need to be afraid of tank tops anymore.

September 1, 2022

It’s summer, otherwise known as sleeveless season. In fact we don’t even want to think about wearing clothes with sleeves until maybe the end of September.

But what if the thought of baring your arms in that halter top makes you self conscious? Or what if your excessive sweating is darkening the armholes in your silk cami? Arms often go unnoticed in the beauty space, but unwanted fat, skin looseness, and excessive sweating make it hard to live a carefree life in the summer months. Fortunately, there are several options for addressing your arm concerns, especially in the MedSpa space. Think minimally invasive treatments, with cutting-edge technology that yields great results without too much down time. Today we’re going through five treatments for the arm area that will make sleeveless season a breeze.

Emsculpt Neo: Tightens and tones at the same time

Emsculpt Neo is a revolutionary treatment that combines radiofrequency heat with electromagnetic pulses to destroy fat and increase muscle mass simultaneously! It’s approved for use on the upper arms (the bicep/tricep area) and can help you sculpt toned, strong arms without all those bicep curls in the gym. It’s non-invasive and pain-free, and treatment sessions are quick, usually about half an hour. See-you-never, cable machine! (Except on back day, of course).

Evolve: tone, tighten, or lose fat–or all three!

Evolve is a system with three different functionalities: Tone, Tite, and Trim. Today we’re focusing on Tite and Trim since they’re approved for use on arms. Tite uses radiofrequency heat to tighten skin that has become lax thanks to weight fluctuation or aging–which is so often a problem on the upper arms. And Trim uses radiofrequency heat to destroy fat cells. Since fat deposits on upper arms are usually hard to get rid of with diet and exercise alone, Evolve Trim is a great option for targeting fat in that specific area. All the Evolve treatments are non-invasive with minimal to no downtime. And you can combine Trim with Tite for best results, too.

CryoSlim: targeted fat reduction

CryoSlim works by freezing the fat cells in the treatment area, which causes them to permanently die off. It’s similar to other fat-freezing technologies, but it also uses high heat before the extreme cold to amplify results. CryoSlim is perfect for targeting stubborn fat in a particular area, such as the upper arms. Also non-invasive with minimal downtime and mild possible side effects.

Morpheus8: Sculpting and skin tightening

Morpheus8 causes skin tightening similar to Evolve Tite, with the added power of microneedling. It combines radiofrequency heat with adjustable microneedling settings–the deeper the needle goes, the more powerful the results are. At the most powerful setting, Morpheus8 can sculpt and remodel fat underneath the skin, too. Morpheus8 is perfect for those who have loose skin on the back of their arms as the result of weight loss or aging. Morpheus8 hurts a little more than other options, but is still minimally invasive with little downtime.

Botox for excessive sweating

If you have excessive sweating, you might feel like nothing you’ve tried has worked. Even prescription antiperspirants often aren’t enough. Hyperhydrosis–the scientific name for excessive sweating–is embarrassing because it’s so hard to hide. It shows up on your clothes all the time–unless you want to wear only black, and who wants to be so limited? That’s why Botox for underarms is such a game changer. How does it work? Botox temporarily blocks a neurotransmitter in your armpit area that binds to sweat glands. If you’re wondering what that means in plain English: in people with hyperhydrosis, the nerves that control sweating are overactive. Botox temporarily paralyzes them, causing up to 90% reduction in sweating. It only paralyzes sweat glands in the injection area, so your body can still cool itself down on hot days. Only now you won’t find yourself sweating clean through your shirt.
